Weekend Round Up

WHAT UP WHAT UP. It’s the first Weekend Round Up of the semester (apologies that we’re a little behind, but we’ve been spending our weekends in Tisch crying into our laptop and wishing we had a bottle of wine…each). This weekend is Homecoming Weekend aka We Don’t Suck At Football Anymore Weekend! Here’s the round-up of things to do during this jam-packed weekend.

Noche hispana: Spain, sweet Spain (Thur. 9/29, 8:00 p.m., Spanish Language House)

From the event page: Ven a hablar español y comer dulces y postres hispanos a la Casa del Español en Tufts Univeristy. Habrá comida gratis, música y buena conversación durante todo el evento. ¡Te esperamos!

Come speak Spanish and eat Hispanic sweets and desserts at the Spanish Language House. There will be free food, music and good conversation all through the event. Come join us!

Fall 2016 Career Fair (Fri. 9/30, 11:30 a.m., Gantcher)

The Career Fair is open to all class years and majors. You’ll have the opportunity to meet with almost 200 employers to learn more about job and internship opportunities. There will be a photo booth to snag the perfect LinkedIn Profile Picture. If you’re excited to be an adult (honestly, even if you’re dreading it), you should probably go.

After Orlando (Fri. 9/30, 8 p.m., Balch Arena Theater)

From the event page: On June 12, 49 people were murdered and an additional 53 wounded at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida. Many of the victims were Queer and Latinx people who saw the dance floor as a space of liberation, transformation, and empowerment. In order to reflect upon the tragedy and remember those killed or wounded, over 50 playwrights were invited to write short plays to respond to this violence and we have selected several to stage here at Tufts. Additionally we wish to provide our community members with a space to create material about Orlando, gun violence, LGBTQ issues, community and survival and the current state of the world. This event is co-Sponsored and Supported by the Department of Drama and Dance, Latino Center, LGBT Center, Latino Studies, Community Health, Asian American Center, Africana Center, Women’s Center, University Chaplaincy, and more to come. This event is free and open to the public.

Homecoming A Cappella Show (Fri. 9/30, 7:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., Goddard Chapel)

Kick off your Homecoming Weekend with performances from Tufts’ three oldest a cappella groups (Beelzebubs, Jackson Jills, and the Amalgamates). You can get your tickets at Tufts Tickets.

TUQ Presents: Make America Cheesy Again (Fri. 9/30, 8:00 p.m., Wherever You Live….Within Reason)
