Spring Break had me really excited to get a nice relaxing pause from college life and stress. But the more I’ve thought about it, the more I’ve realized that there are far more exciting things than a simple break coming up in just over a week. So I’ve compiled a list of the top five things I’m looking forward to this Spring Break.
1. The workload
I can’t help but get pumped thinking about all of that work that I get to be doing over my weeklong break. All of those midterms to continue studying for and essays to write? I’m gripped with excitement. Where will that thesis statement take me next?
2. Just missing my friends
Almost none of my friends from home have quite the same Spring Break schedule. If I do see them, it’ll be for a short day or two of weekend overlap. I’d like to think that this is the universe trying to tell me something. I probably didn’t want to see them anyway.
3. Questions from family members
How are midterms going? Finals are coming up soon, right? If stressing about exams and essays during the semester is fun, then I can only imagine the sheer delight that I’ll experience when I get to have that same stress over vacation!
4. Sleeping in (or not?)
I had been looking forward to sleeping in during break—maybe I’d let myself go through until 1 p.m. But that workload will have me up at least as early as 8 a.m. I’m very excited to get an early start to my day in order to finish up essays and such.
5. Running errands
My parents will have an extra pair of hands during break—me! Without my friends and with all this work, I may begin to get bored if not for the errands my mom will undoubtedly have me doing. Picking up my younger siblings from school and their many activities, buying groceries, shopping, etc. will be a blast and will help me keep a level head.
