Weekend Round Up

We generally like to think of days in terms of their proximity to the weekend instead of their actual names. It makes the stress of midterms just a little more bearable. Luckily for all of us, it’s 2 days to the weekend (but really it’s only 1 day because we start our weekend on Friday regardless of classes and other responsibilities. #JWUGs).

This weekend is very special since it’s Halloween-time, and there are a ton of events going on! If you’re not into the party scene, don’t fret; there’s an event this weekend for everyone.

Sharewood Presents: Spookapella (Fri. 10/30 at 6:30pm, Cohen Auditorium)
This annual event, sponsored by the Sharewood Project, features food and performances from Tufts a cappella and dance groups. Tickets are $7 for admission and food and $10 for admission, food, and 5 raffle tickets. All proceeds go to the Sharewood Project, a free clinic run by Tufts medical students and doctors that delivers health care to medically undeserved populations in the greater Boston area.

Latino Heritage Month Extravaganza (Fri. 10/30 from 4:30-6:30pm, Sophia Gordon Multipurpose Room)
Hosted by the Association of Latin American Students at Tufts, this extravaganza will include food, music and performances by students!

Rocky Horror Picture Show Showing (Fri. 10/30 at 9:00pm, Barnum 008)
Tufts Film Series and the Tufts LGBT center paired up to screen Rocky Horror Picture Show. Aside from the movie screening, the event will also include a shadow cast and prop bags. Tickets are FREE and on sale at the box office and at tuftstickets.com. The Facebook event provides more info!

Halloween! (Sat. 10/31 all day, everywhere you look)
Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, meaning we will use the full day to eat as much candy as our bodies will allow.

Somerville Theatre Halloween Horror Marathon (Sat. 10/31 from noon-midnight, Somerville Theatre)
If you’d like to have a more low-key Halloween day, the Somerville Theatre will be showing 12 hours of horror at their Halloween Horror Marathon. All films will be shown in 35mm, and the day-long event will include DraculaWest of ZanzibarThe Lost Boys, and more! Tickets are $30 and are on sale now.
