Top Four Brunch Spots Near Tufts

Brunch is pretty much universally acknowledged as the best meal of all time. Sunday brunch is a great time to spend with friends or family over french toast, omelets, and copious coffee. It’s also a great date idea for those couples looking for something to do this Saturday for Valentine’s day. Here are the best brunch spots near Tufts to indulge yourself this weekend.

1. SoundBites

704 Broadway, Somerville MA 02144

SoundBites is my top choice for brunch because it has a great menu (can you say stuffed french toast?), unlimited coffee, a great atmosphere, and it’s nearby for those who live on campus. Their omelets are enormous and their french toast is to die for. If you don’t believe me, believe Boston Magazine, who awarded SoundBites a “Best of Boston” award. Bonus: They also deliver and have catering services.

Hours

Monday – Saturday: 6:30am – 9:30pm

Sunday: 7am – 4pm

2. Kelly’s Diner

674 Broadway, Somerville MA 02144

Kelly’s Diner is the best pick for a classic, retro-style American diner. They have, hands-down, the best eggs I’ve ever had. Their Nutella french toast is also a piece of pure beauty. The atmosphere is really cute and 1950’s style, but the space is small so be sure to get there early to get a table. On the plus side, their service is great and really quick, and they have unlimited coffee.

Hours

Monday – Saturday: 6am – 3pm

Sunday: 6am – 2pm (Breakfast only)

3. Rosebud American Kitchen & Bar

381 Summer Street, Somerville MA 02144

Rosebud is a great option for other meals of the day as well, but they happen to also have a fantastic brunch menu. Located in Davis Square, they’re in a prime location for Tufts students. Their menu is a little more upscale than other diners in the area, so Rosebud is a good option for a fun date or a place to bring your visiting family members. If you’re from the South and missing some home-style food, Rosebud has biscuits and gravy along with the classic omelets, pancakes, and french toast.

Hours

Saturday & Sunday: 10 – 3 (For Brunch)

4. Johnny D’s

17 Holland Street, Somerville MA 02144

Another good option in Davis Square is Johnny D’s, which also has music and regular fare at other times of the day. They have a nice, classic brunch menu featuring unique specialities like catfish and eggs along with traditional brunch food. Their brunch combos are a great value for a lot of food if you’re feeling hungry. Bonus: They have live music starting from 9:45am!

Hours

Saturday & Sunday: 8:30am – 2:30pm
